Calling all you night owls! Dark Mode in Dictionary.com's iOS and Android apps will help you find the words you need, without the eye strain.
Dictionary.com iOS* and Android apps (versions 8.12.0 and later) have a convenient option for you to set the app to Light mode, Dark Mode, or have the app match our current device settings.
Some quick steps to set your app's appearance and turn dark mode on or off:
- Open our Dictionary.com app
- Tap on the main menu (three horizontal lines located on the top, left corner of the screen)
- Select "Settings" from the menu
- Choose the "Appearance" menu option
- Here you can set your preference for which mode you'd like: Light mode, Dark mode, or have the app match your device settings
Our apps can be found in your App or Play Store, or see the full list here: https://www.dictionary.com/e/apps/
*Note: Dark Mode, and other appearance settings, are not available in our separate iPad apps. We also do not have dark mode on our Dictionary.com or Thesaurus.com websites.
